From Portland, Maine via a short stay in Prince Edward Island, we went to Quebec City and Montreal, the jewels of Canada. Quebec City was very quaint with brick streets and low rise, French style flats. Street artists and rows of galleries filled in random street corners and made the drizzling shower feel romantic. The atmosphere was very liberal. There was loud rock music festival taking place in a 100 yr old, cathedral court yard with beautiful architecture. In contrast to this atmosphere was La Citadelle.  It is a fortress built by the British in the 16th century, and dominated the skyline surrounding the old city.

Montreal was similar but different in many ways from Quebec. Both had French cultural influence. The cities were full of beautiful French architecture and yummy French bakeries. However, the new part of Montreal was filled with modern skyscrapers, booming with modern condominiums and office buildings. We spent most of our leisure time exploring the old part of city where we saw huge, but delicately structured, government buildings and the beautiful Nortre Dame Cathedral. Everywhere you turned there was another building that you wanted to photograph. The interior of Notre Dame and the spirit felt there was sublime. I would recommend anyone regardless of his or her religion to visit the cathedral. It was that astonishing! We spent our last night in the middle of a touristy area and enjoyed a local restaurant. With that, we said A Votre Sante until next time!
